Entries now open!
The School Magazine writing competition is now open to entries. The entry details and writing prompts can be found in Issue 2 (March) of each level of The School Magazine.
Entries close Friday 17 April 2026.
Submission options
Submit entries online
Teachers, parents and carers can submit student entries using the online form below.
You may submit up to 35 entries per form. Submissions must be completed by an adult over the age of 18.
Submit by mail
If you prefer to submit printed entries, download the postal entry form below.
Complete one form per magazine and attach it to the front of your student entries before posting. The postal address is included on the form.

Writing competition teaching resources
The writing competition is a great opportunity to engage students in purposeful creative writing.
To support classroom preparation, we’ve developed a suite of teaching resources, including structured lesson plans, student worksheets and A3 classroom posters. Together, these resources guide students through the full narrative writing process — from brainstorming and planning through to drafting, revising and editing.
