Session overview
Teachers and leaders are invited to join an online professional learning session exploring how The School Magazine can support explicit reading instruction in Stage 2 and Stage 3 classrooms. This session builds on the Term 1 orientation session and focuses on practical ways to strengthen comprehension and vocabulary using the magazine’s texts and learning resources.
The session is suitable for schools using either print or digital subscriptions to The School Magazine.
Participants will explore how short stories, articles and plays from The School Magazine can be used as mentor texts to explicitly teach comprehension and vocabulary in context. The session will demonstrate how to select texts with purpose, use text complexity to support differentiation, and incorporate curriculum-aligned lesson plans, worksheets and digital interactives into classroom practice.
The session will also highlight strategies for using high-quality texts to model reading strategies and support vocabulary development in the classroom.
A Q&A will follow the presentation, with opportunities to ask questions related to specific school contexts and implementation needs.
